Prior to his retirement from the active practice of law, Mr. McWhorter engaged in a general business practice and is licensed to practice law in the State of Texas. He worked with media clients emphasizing libel and slander law. He currently is of counsel to the Firm and teaches business law in the Graduate School of the Rawls College of Business at Texas Tech University. Mr. McWhorter is an alumnus of Texas Tech University (B.A. 1968, J.D. 1975) where he was a member of Delta Theta Phi and the Moot Court Board. He is extensively involved in the Lubbock community, having served as President of the Board of Directors of the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra and President of the South Plains Fair Association. He is also a member of the Southwest Rotary Club and has served on the Kidney Foundation Board. Mr. McWhorter’s father, Owen W. McWhorter, Sr., was one of the founding member of the Firm.
